Miranda is a 15 year old sophomore at South High. she signed up for Art as an elective to fill a study hall in her schedule, and that's where she met Ezme. she says that they "bonded" over the fact that they wore more eyeliner than anyone else in the class combined, although miranda wasn't actually wearing much. after having art 1 first quarter, she signed up for Art 2 in second to have another class with Ezme, since it wasn't possible to have another because of thier grade levels. before Miranda met Ezme, she was a mainly stereotypical member of the cheerleading and dance team. not too much longer after becoming friends, Miranda started trying to copy the things Esmeralda was doing to try and make herself more appealing to being friends with her, as well as her male counterparts. she began wearing more dark make up, chopped off her hair and dyed it, then started wearing mainly black clothing. on her MyXone profile, she began adding all of Ezme's friends and asked her to design a custom layout similar to her own so that she would seem more "legit."
Miranda refers to herself as an "emo girl" and tries very hard to fit the stereotype, partially because that's what she thought Ezme "was." she once referred to Ezme as "emo" when conversing about styles of clothing, in which Ezme laughed and told her that she "actual skates in her skate shoes." as Miranda changed, she made new friends at school. most of which in band or members of the drama club, which normally coincide there. to her new friends, Ezme was all she talked about and referred to her as the coolest person that she knew. the people that she was now friends with made fun of her for being friends with Ezme and said she was a "poseur" and that Ezme wasn't cool because "she drives a minivan and doesnt wear skinny jeans." of course that day, miranda got her mom to sew up all of her pants so they wouldn't think she was lame.
despite her new friends, Miranda still has her mind set on hanging out with Ezme most of the time, and she tries to hide from either group of friends when she is with the other. She tries to fit in with Ezme's friends but they don't take much of a liking to her. when Miranda began tagging along with Ezme to hang out with her friends, (mainly Moe,) she was welcoming towards her although very skeptical of her character. Moe noticed as she came around more often that Miranda was changing very quickly and immediately began to dislike her after she noticed that Miranda would change her voice and the way she spoke only when she was around Ezme's male friends. she often describes Miranda as "obsessive" and "immature" although Miranda thinks of herself otherwise. Miranda is Ezme's youngest friend, having just turned 15 her sophomore year while she is turning 18. Ezme once told her that she treats her differently than her other friends because of thier age difference. Miranda was appauled and told her that it was "offensive that she thinks she's any less mature than the age of 18." Ezme told her that she wouldn't like thier friendship as much if she treated her as if they were the same age.
Also, when they first met, Ezme was dating Luna, another student at the school. whenever they were together and Miranda was around, she would show a bit of jealousy around them and talked over Luna frequently or cut off her sentences, which Luna already didn't talk much. for a brief moment, Miranda was a member of Ezme's band path0gen, as was Luna at the time on rhythm bass. Miranda told Ezme that she played the drums, and because she'd seen the drum kit at Miranda's house she said it was fine if she was willing to get better. Miranda would show up to practices, but never brang the kit, wrote anything down or recorded music to practice to. When Ezme confronted her, she used Luna as an excuse, saying that Luna only brought her bass every other week, although during the practice, Luna wrote tabs for her bass during Ezme and Moe's melodies. Miranda and Luna got in a huge argument after she said that she's never heard Luna play and that she was only in the band because she was Ezme's girlfriend. Luna and Ezme were both enraged by this and kicked Miranda out of the band. Ezme didn't talk to her for a week and eventually Miranda apologized, but was angry when Ezme described her actions as "immature" before forgiving her. after Ezme and Luna broke up is when Miranda dyed her hair pink and yellow, because she figured it would get Ezme's attention since Luna's hair was blue. Miranda gets frustrated often and doesn't understand why Ezme doesn't have a crush on her because she is "her type." the part that doesn't make sense is that Miranda is straight.
Miranda has a typically normal life, living with both of her parents in a house in the suburbs. her father is a lawyer and her mom is a receptionist for the firm he works for. she is an only child, grew up as the baby of the family and normally got whatever she wanted. because of this, she constantly wants to be the center of attention wherever she is. when she doesn't, she'll do whatever it takes to get it, which isn't limited to acting out and lying - two things which she is widely known to do.
